Welcome to another ‘Video Sunday’.
Not sure how I’d feel about having go through one of the things they talk about in this video.
While I kinda yearn a spot of “the good ol’ days” before we all had GPS and our heads buried in mobile phones (I drive a Series, I love ‘ATA’ – all things analogue), after hearing what they talk about I’m kinda glad we’re never going to be put in this situation…
…how would you feel having to draw straws (or reeds, in this case) to see who, in your party, gets eaten next?! Now imagine getting all the way down to you and the ‘the other guy’ 😮
Anyway. This is the 21st century and I can appreciate, just a little more, the digital side of things.
This vid’s set in Tasmania, and the guys at ‘Seriously Series’ are meandering around the bush in a ’75 Series III. Looks like a great place for a spot of Land Rovering.
Scenery aside, there’s a little tip about burning green / wet wood in your campfire if you can’t muster up any dry wood. And an even better tip on setting static timing on your old petrol Landy with no special tools.
I always assumed you’d whip out the timing light and get busy under the bonnet with that. But, doing it this way you don’t take up valuable space packing kit you don’t need.
In my head, I can hear the argument newer Landy owners will be spewing… we don’t need timing lights, it’s all electrickery and the timing’s always spot on.
Yeah, like that’ll never fail. Personally, I’d rather have an old Series where the timing could go out, but I can readjust it on-the-spot with no special tools, than rely on a fancy computer that, when it fails, leaves you up the proverbial creek with no on-the-spot fix.
But that might just be me.
Anyway, find the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLx-Vd3y4G8
It’s a touch shy of 20 minutes long, so go make yourself a cuppa before you settle in.
Old Landys Rule!
Cheers, Phil.
