Video Sunday: Norway checking your pulse

Welcome to the first Old Landys Rule ‘Video Sunday’.

Each week I’ll share a video I’ve discovered to get your Landy juices flowing.

This weeks video comes from Norway. The land of trolls, brown cheese, and some of the most magnificent scenery on the planet.

At over 50 minutes long, it’s not teabreak viewing. But if it doesn’t get your juices flowing, and evoke a hankering for a spot of overlanding, then I’d suggest checking your pulse.

As far as the video’s concerned, it’s a pretty good affair. Plenty of sweeping drone shots and STUNNING scenery. Not what you’d call ‘knocked together from phone footage’.

And while the lanes they travel aren’t technically challenging, it doesn’t mean they’re any less drool-worthy. You’ll see what I mean when they hit the summit of Norway’s second highest driveable Road – Tronfjellveien (a 10km track built in single month in 1959).

It might only be hard pack gravel and mud but it’s steep enough the only old Landy (a 3 door classic Rangie) in the 6 car convoy puffed and wheezed to a halt before getting close to the summit.

This has been added to the OLR bucket list 😀

Also, refreshingly, none of the Landys were ‘over kitted out’. Subtle additions only, for comfort and to make sure you get where you’re going – none of the ‘all the gear, no idea’ that regularly exposes itself in the Land Rover world.
