The curse of the Land Rover nut is a tough one to own.
We’re not like other ‘car’ owners. Not quite.
We can stand around for hours chatting spare parts, green lanes, the best places to get your fuel, and how difficult it was to [insert your nightmare job here].
And one of the other things that sets us apart from ‘regular’ car owners is our penchant for amassing a spares collection to rival some online retailers.
Boxes of parts. Rubbers. Brake shoes. Pads. Windscreen wipers. Spark plugs. Filters. And all manner of nuts and bolts (how big is YOUR ‘spare nuts and bolts tin’?)
And it doesn’t stop there. Plenty of us like to collect the odd engine, or even car, too.
Not to mention gearboxes. Transfer boxes. Doors. Bonnets. Roof racks.
The list is – almost – endless.
Which all means the proverbial mountain of Landy stuff kicking around.
At some point it’ll get out of hand… and a voice in the background will offer up the helpful suggestion of “time to get rid of all that tut”.
(unless you keep it all well hidden from prying eyes – in which case: go you!)
We’ve all been down the ebay route. And for a fair chunk of us, we refuse to do it again.
(I’ve not got time to waste selling stuff for pennies and then arguing over whether it’s ‘as described’ or chasing non-payers)
But if you’ve still got that mountain of kit to get rid of, and the background voice is getting ever-louder, then what to do?
Cue: The Land Rover Monthly spares jumble.
They’ve got a few running over the year, but the first one’s coming up real soon.
5th Feb to be exact.
And this one’s down at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern (think of it as ‘north of Bristol, not far off the M5).
You’re gonna find parts, spares, accessories, even some antiques. Tools, engines and even vehicles.
In fact, ‘anything Land Rover’ is probably a better way of putting it.
But not just Landy stuff.
As well as the classic Landy scene you’ve also got a smidge of Agriculture and Army stuff going on.
It runs from 09:30 to 14:00, so you haven’t got to ‘do the whole day’. And there’s indoor AND outdoors pitches – so if it rains, just mosey on inside for a while.
You’ve also got free parking and food stalls to feed you.
Buyer tickets are a tenner on the gate (when I write this) – but double check yourself: https://www.landrovermonthly.co.uk/information/malvern-5-feb – and discounted if you buy in advance. Trade / seller tickets are more.
To be honest, even if you’re not in the market for some spares for your Landy, what a great place to go hang out for the morning and immerse yourself in the nuts, bolts, and people (nuts?) of the Land Rover world.
Gotta be worth checking out.

And keep an eye out for me wearing Old Landys Rule gear. We’re not going to sell stuff, but what a great place to wander around with your camera, hanging out and chatting all things Landy.
See you there.
Old Landys Rule!
Cheers, Phil.
