Old Landys Rule

THE Land Rover newsletter about a geriatric Land Rover Series III called Dorothy and her stablemates

Leaky Lucky no. 2

You’ve probably heard me talk about the little gifts that Lucky (my Discovery 2) keeps on sending my way.

Little niggles that need sorting out.

The list is almost endless.

And as a Discovery 2 it’s got some ‘leaking’ issues.

I mentioned before about Victoria Falls on the dashboard after every time it belts down with rain. (curiously that’s now a bit hit and miss – yet I’ve not lifted a finger on fixing it)

Then there’s the leaky rear off-side door seal (more on that another time).

And coming out of my local supermarket the other day revealed yet another leak.

I expect the one at the front. It’s a known issue for D2’s and there’s even a “Technical Information” document (no. 76/04/04) released specifically to show how to sort it out.

But I wasn’t expecting the puddle on the rear parcel shelf after a spot of particularly heavy rain.

A quick recce of the read door seal reveals nothing obvious. Apart from water stains from previous soakings.

It’s another thing to go on the “Lucky List”. But as I keep nothing of particular importance in the boot, it’s waaay down the list. I’d rather stop the dashboard from swimming and the rear off-side door from being a power shower, first.

Lucky we enjoy messing around with old Landys, because owning one would be a tough pill to swallow otherwise.
