It’s no secret I’m not a fan of later Land Rovers.
They might be half decent cars, but they’re no Land Rover.
Land Rover, as I know it, pretty much ceased to exist after 1994, after ze Germans got their mitts on it.
(got nothing against Germans by the way)
Yes, I’m aware there’s a level of irony in my philosophy, given my daily drive’s a ’99 Disco 2.
But, to be fair, I never considered the D2 to be a ‘proper’ Land Rover. (although it has grown on me and is quite Discovery-like to drive – I’m definitely a D2 convert)
I digress.
Proper Land Rovers are ’94 and older.
Like Trigger, Dick’s 3 door 200 Tdi Discovery.
Like The Beast, Dick’s ’82 (I think) V8 4 door Range Rover.
Like Uriah, Dick’s ’84 One-ten V8 that started this whole love affair with Land Rovers.
And let’s not forget Dorothy, my own ’76 Land Rover Series 3 SWB diesel.
They’re PROPER Land Rovers. Not like the soulless Ford/BMW/Tata digitised stuff being churned out today, pandering to the US market.
(like the new Land Rover ‘Pretender’)
So I thought it a good idea to show off my love of old Land Rovers, but in a way that any lover of Old Landys could also get onboard with.
See, the Old Landys Rule! grill tee’s are car specific. A Series One owner’s not going to splash out on some swag with a Series III grill on it.
A Series III enthusiast’s probably not going to grab some swag with a classic Range Rover face splashed all over it.
But there is a unifying feature that all old Land Rover people can identify with…
…the original black and white Land Rover badge.
Enter… the Old Landys Rule! vintage badge t-shirt.
Printed on Gildan heavyweight t-shirts, using premium DTG (Direct To Garment) tech, right here in the UK. So they’re made to last the distance, AND look good. Much like our Old Landys.
I’ve already grabbed myself a couple, and you can grab yours here: https://shop.oldlandysrule.com/products/gildan-heavy-cotton-t-shirt-olr-vintage-badge/
Treat yourself, you deserve it, right? Or drop a not-so-subtle-hint to your partner / sibling / parent / dog that you want one (or more) for Xmas.
And when you get one, send us a pic of you wearing it in your Old Landy and we’ll pop it up on the website, or even in the newsletter.
